Reflection

In our recent conversation on the podcast, we talked about the image of someone holding a knife tightly and asking another person to take it away. The problem is that the tight grip is what causes the injury. That picture stays with me because I know how easily I can ask God to remove something while refusing to open my hands.

Surrender is not pretending that we aren't afraid. Brianna said she was honest with God about her concerns over finding a new job, losing health insurance, and managing her finances. She brought the real emotions to Him instead of trying to make her faith look polished.

Psalm 62:8 invites us to pour out our hearts before God because He is our refuge. God is not intimidated by our tears or questions. He meets us in the truth, and as we become honest with Him, He begins softening the places where fear has made us rigid.
