Finding Dollars of Faithfulness
~2 min read
Months ago, I was praying about a retreat. Not just the planning, but how I was going to pay for it. I remember bringing those worries to the Lord, wondering how everything would come together.
Then I found a dollar bill.
It wasn’t lying out in the open. It was tucked beneath a pile of leaves, almost hidden. To anyone else, it would have been just another dollar. But to me, it felt like God gently whispering, “I see you. I’ll provide.”
About a month later, I was on a prayer walk at the beach. As I walked and talked with the Lord, I looked down and saw another dollar bill. This one was buried in the sand, just barely visible. Again, it wasn’t about the dollar. It was about the reminder. God was letting me know He was still with me, still leading me, and still providing.
Today, months after that retreat that He provided for, I’m praying for provision in a different way, it happened again.
I was walking through a sheep field when I noticed something sticking out of the dry grass. I bent down, and there it was. Another dollar bill.
Three dollar bills.
One hidden in leaves.
One hidden in sand.
One hidden in grass.
Each one found during a different season. Each one carrying the same reminder.
Some people would probably call it coincidence, but I know what I had been praying. I know the conversations God and I have shared over these last several months. I know what each of those little dollar bills has meant to my heart.
None of them changed my circumstances. They didn’t suddenly answer every question or solve every financial need. But every single one reminded me of something even more important.
God sees me.
When I don’t know what’s next, He sees me. When I’m wondering how everything will work out, He sees me. When I’m carrying dreams that feel much bigger than I am, He sees me.
I’ve started keeping every dollar He’s given me in my Bible. Not because of what they’re worth, but because of what they represent. They’re little reminders of God’s faithfulness. Little God winks that remind me He hasn’t forgotten me, even when I can’t see the whole picture.
Sometimes God’s greatest provision isn’t the answer we’re waiting for. Sometimes it’s the gentle reminder that He’s walking with us every step of the way. 💕
