Faithfulness in the Ordinary Places
~2 min read
Today's Question
What ordinary responsibility has God placed in front of you right now? How might He be using that place for purposes you cannot yet see?
Reflection
Carolyn works in two very different environments. Part of her week is spent serving customers at a car dealership, and the other part is spent leading a Christian nonprofit. On paper, one role may look more connected to ministry than the other. But God has given her opportunities to listen, encourage, and point people toward Him in both places.
One young man at the dealership was quiet and rarely looked up from his phone. Carolyn chose to notice him. She introduced herself, built a relationship, and eventually invited him to church. Nearly three years later, he had been baptized and was preparing to lead a young men’s Bible study.
Ladies, we may not know why God has placed us in a particular workplace, neighborhood, or family. Colossians 3:23 reminds us to work wholeheartedly, as though we are serving the Lord. The small acts of faithfulness we are tempted to overlook may become part of someone else’s story of redemption.
Perspectives Into Practice
Perspectives Into Practice — Pay attention to one person God has placed near you today. Instead of rushing past them, ask a sincere question, listen carefully, or offer a simple word of encouragement.
Be faithful in your responsibilities, too. Show up, do your work well, and remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit without forcing an opportunity that God has not given you.
