Open Hands, Not Forced Outcomes

~2 min read

Today's Question

Where are you tempted to manipulate an outcome God has asked you to trust Him with? What would surrender look like in that situation today?

Reflection

Can I tell you something? I know what it feels like to make a plan, pray over it, and then start helping God carry it out. I can move quickly when I’m afraid that waiting means nothing is happening. Carolyn shared honestly that her own planning once pushed her close to a nervous breakdown.

When God made it clear that He wanted her to attend the National Religious Broadcasters Convention, the logistics seemed impossible. Money, travel, and timing all had to come together. She had to resist the urge to grab and manipulate every detail. She described the experience as moving forward with open hands, trusting God to provide what He had asked her to do.

Psalm 46:10 calls us to be still and know that He is God. Stillness is not giving up. It is choosing to stop pretending that everything depends on us. God is able to lead, confirm, and provide without our anxious control.

Perspectives Into Practice

Perspectives Into Practice — Identify one outcome you have been trying to control. Write it down, pray over it, and physically open your hands as a reminder that the situation belongs to God.

Before making your next move, ask, “Lord, are You leading me, or am I acting from fear and presumption?” Give yourself permission to wait for clear direction.
