The Weight Was Never Yours

Today's Question

What are you carrying today that Jesus may be inviting you to release? How would your day look different if you came to Him before reaching your breaking point?

Reflection

I remember looking at my own life and seeing what felt like an entire fleet of boats moving in different directions. I was touching each one, trying to keep everything on course, but I wasn't stopping long enough to ask the Lord where He was leading me. My hands were busy, but my heart was tired.

In this episode of Perspectives into Practice, Jenna and I talk about the burdens we carry because we believe everything depends on us. But Jesus doesn't stand over us demanding that we handle more. He says, "Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28, CSB).

Hand to heart, rest begins with coming closer to Jesus. It doesn't begin with getting every task finished or finding the perfect plan. It begins when we admit that we need Him.

Perspectives Into Practice

Perspectives Into Practice — Write down one burden that has been taking up space in your mind. Pray over it slowly: "Jesus, this is too heavy for me to carry. I give it to You. Show me what You are asking me to carry today."

You don't have to solve the whole situation today. Let surrender be your first faithful step.
